Basant Anthem Released to Rekindle Spring Celebrations

Lahore: The Punjab government has intensified efforts to rejuvenate the province’s cultural vibrancy with the release of a new Basant anthem, signaling a renewed push to restore the spring festival under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Titled “Phir Aai Basant” (Basant Is Back), the anthem was released by the Punjab Information and Culture Department and shared through Alhamra Lahore’s official Instagram account. The song is performed by renowned Sialkot-based singer and composer Bilal Saeed and has been promoted as the official soundtrack of Punjab’s highly anticipated cultural event.

The accompanying music video features model and actor Nabeel Zubairi alongside food blogger Ali Rehman, with scenes filmed across the historic streets of old Lahore. Iconic backdrops, including the picture wall of Lahore Fort, are paired with dancers in vibrant costumes, capturing the colourful spirit of Basant—a festival traditionally associated with kites, music, and celebration.

Alongside its festive tone, the anthem delivers a strong message on safety. Lyrics caution that violations of festival rules will lead to action by authorities, while also encouraging citizens to celebrate responsibly.

The three-day Basant festival is set to begin on February 6 in Lahore. Safety measures include restrictions near Lahore Airport, reflecting continued concern over potential hazards.

To encourage public participation, Chief Minister Nawaz has announced free travel on 419 buses, Metro Bus services, the Orange Line train, and 6,000 Yango rickshaws throughout the festival period, ensuring easier access to festivities across the city.
