Bannu Police Thwart Terror Attack, Kill Three Militants

Bannu: A police constable was martyred and three others sustained injuries in a late-night terrorist attack on a police checkpost in the Fateh Khel area of Bannu district on Sunday.
According to police sources, a group of heavily armed militants launched an assault on the Fateh Khel police post, using sophisticated weaponry. In the ensuing gun battle, Constable Niaz embraced martyrdom, while three other officers — identified as Munir, Saudad, and Mufti Mahmood — were injured.

Police personnel responded swiftly, returning fire and killing three of the assailants. A subsequent search operation was launched in the vicinity to track down any remaining militants or their accomplices.
DIG Bannu, while addressing the media, condemned the attack and praised the bravery of the police force. “Our personnel are on the frontlines in the fight against terrorism. Such cowardly acts will not deter our resolve,” he stated.
The bodies of the deceased militants were shifted to a local hospital for identification, while the injured policemen were moved to a medical facility for treatment. Security forces have cordoned off the area as investigations continue.
