Bangladesh Triumph Over Pakistan in 2-1 Series Win

Islamabad: Bangladesh women’s cricket team secured a 2-1 series victory over Pakistan after a dominant performance in the third ODI, successfully chasing down a target of 167 in 45.4 overs. The win also earned Bangladesh four crucial points in the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25.
In pursuit of the target, Bangladesh got off to a solid start as openers Shamima Sultana and Murshida Khatun put on a 45-run partnership. Shamima contributed 34 runs off 49 balls, while Murshida scored 26 before being dismissed. Despite losing two quick wickets, Nigar Sultana and Fargana Hoque steadied the innings with a 67-run partnership.
Skipper Nigar Sultana played a match-winning unbeaten innings of 61 off 92 balls, steering her side to victory, while Fargana Hoque chipped in with 35 runs. Bangladesh completed the chase in the 44th over with seven wickets in hand, showcasing a strong collective effort with both bat and ball.

Pakistan, in reply, posted 166-9 in their 50 overs. Sidra Amin top-scored with an unbeaten 84 off 143 balls, but wickets fell at the other end, limiting the team’s total. Nahida Akter was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, taking three wickets for 26 runs, while Rabeya Khan also contributed with two wickets.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s opening pair had dominated the innings with a 125-run stand. Fargana Hoque scored 62 off 113 balls, while Murshida Khatun added 54 runs, helping set up a strong platform for their side. Bangladesh achieved their target in the 46th over with Nigar Sultana and Sobhana Mostary unbeaten.
Fargana Hoque was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance, while Nahida Akter claimed Player of the Series with her seven-wicket haul across the three ODIs.
The Pakistan women’s team, having lost both the T20I series 2-1 and the ODI series 2-1, will return home on Saturday after the conclusion of the tour.
