Bangladesh Eases Visa Process for Pakistanis

Lahore: Bangladesh has simplified visa requirements for Pakistani nationals, including the introduction of online visa applications, announced Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan, Iqbal Hussain Khan, during a session at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Highlighting the streamlined process, the High Commissioner stated that the Bangladesh government has removed the need for clearance from Dhaka for Pakistani heads of missions, making the visa process more accessible and efficient.

Iqbal Hussain Khan emphasized the importance of enhancing trade and investment ties between the two countries, citing the Lahore Chamber’s cooperation as a vital component in achieving these goals. He expressed Bangladesh’s commitment to improving relations with Pakistan, which have faced challenges over the past decade.

He noted that Bangladesh, with its 180 million-strong consumer market, offers significant opportunities for Pakistan to expand its economic footprint.

Additionally, he highlighted the role of Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor, Dr Muhammad Yunus, in prioritizing regional cooperation and called for revitalizing SAARC to boost trade and collaboration in the region.

Lahore Chamber President Mian Abuzar Shad shared trade figures, revealing that bilateral trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh reached $718 million during the fiscal year 2023-24. The discussion underscored the mutual potential for economic growth through strengthened bilateral ties.
