Bangladesh Bowl First as Pakistan Bat in Second ODI

Dhaka: Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first against Pakistan in the second One Day International (ODI) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.

At the toss, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz said the team had decided to bowl first in order to continue the successful strategy from the opening match of the series. He added that the hosts have retained the same playing XI that secured victory in the first ODI.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi acknowledged that the team’s batting unit was aware of the mistakes made in the previous match and would aim to deliver a better performance in the second encounter.

Afridi also confirmed one change in Pakistan’s lineup, with fast bowler Haris Rauf included in the playing XI in place of spinner Abrar Ahmed.

Bangladesh currently lead the three-match ODI series 1–0 after registering a convincing eight-wicket victory in the opening game.

In the first ODI, Pakistan were bowled out for a modest total, with Faheem Ashraf top-scoring with 37 runs, while Sahibzada Farhan contributed 27 and Moaz Sadaqat added 18.

Bangladesh chased down the 115-run target comfortably, reaching the total on the first ball of the 16th over. Tanzid Hasan led the chase with an unbeaten 67, while Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 27.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr picked up one wicket each.

The third and final ODI of the series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be played on Sunday.
