Multan: Pakistan’s High-Performance Coach Tim Nielsen has praised Babar Azam’s dedication to regaining his form ahead of the team’s upcoming challenges.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Nielsen acknowledged the additional pressure faced by the star batter, noting that opponents are increasingly preparing to counter Babar’s strengths.
“Teams are coming prepared against Babar; they know where he scores and have adjusted their plans accordingly,” Nielsen explained. Despite this pressure, he expressed confidence in Babar’s efforts, stating, “For a player of his caliber, it’s not about a lack of effort; he is putting in the work.”
Reflecting on the complexities of Test cricket, particularly in the ongoing series against England, Nielsen emphasized the importance of consistent performance over the five-day format. “In Test cricket, the team that plays well for all five days gets better results,” he said.
Nielsen commended England’s batting display, highlighting their strong performance throughout the series. “England put up a great display of batting,” he noted, reiterating that Test cricket remains the most challenging format of the game.
He also praised young English batsman Harry Brook for his impressive rise, stating, “Brook scoring 300 runs in just 20 Tests is remarkable. The way he batted gave Pakistan little opportunity to stop him.”
On a challenging note for Pakistan, Nielsen revealed that their lead spinner, Abrar Ahmed, was unable to bowl due to illness. “Our lead spinner Abrar was in the hospital, which was unfortunate,” he said, emphasizing the difficulties the team faced in the current series.
