Babar Azam Sets PSL Record in Season 9 Opener

Islamabad: In a stellar performance during the inaugural match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Babar Azam showcased his prowess by scoring 68 runs at a strike rate of 162 off 42 balls against Quetta Gladiators.

This remarkable inning etched his name in history as the first player to surpass 3,000 runs in the PSL event.

Azam’s aggregate stands at an impressive 3,004 runs in 80 matches and 78 innings, with one century and 29 fifties to his credit.

Following him in the rankings is Lahore Qalandars’ opener, Fakhr Zaman, securing the second spot with 2,381 runs in 77 innings, featuring two centuries and 18 fifties.

Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik claims the third position with a total of 2,135 runs, while Mohammad Rizwan secures the fourth spot with over 2,000 runs.

After the match, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam highlighted the absence of a spinner in the game against Quetta.
