Avoid Cousin Marriages To Prevent Thalassaemia: Health Expert

Multan: Children Hospital Multan Dean Dr Muhammad Kashif Chishti has stressed the need to discourage cousin marriages as a critical measure to prevent the spread of thalassaemia,

Dr Kashif also underlined the importance of conducting thalassaemia tests prior to marriage to significantly reduce the risk of the disease. Its a hereditary blood disorder prevalent in the region.

While addressing a delegation led by Club DG District 340 Chairperson Saleha Pasha, Dr Chishti highlighted that early testing and awareness could play a pivotal role in the prevention of thalassaemia.

Saleha Pasha urged philanthropists to generously support the Children Hospital and other centres dedicated to treating children with thalassaemia.

Pasha further assured that all clubs under her leadership would actively contribute to the treatment efforts for children suffering from thalassaemia.
