Australia Set for Lahore T20I Series as PCB Unveils Schedule
News Desk
Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the schedule for Australia’s upcoming T20I tour of Pakistan, with the two teams set to face off in a three-match series in Lahore later this month.
All three T20 internationals will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium, with matches scheduled for January 29, January 31 and February 1. Australia’s squad is due to arrive in Lahore on January 28, a day ahead of the opening fixture.
According to the PCB, the toss for each match will take place at 5:30pm local time, with play beginning at 6pm. The board said the series will provide valuable match practice for both sides as they prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, where Pakistan have been placed in Group A and Australia in Group B.
The tour will mark Australia’s third visit to Pakistan since international cricket resumed there in 2022. During their March–April 2022 tour, Australia played Tests, ODIs and a lone T20I, and later returned for matches during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Their only previous T20I at the Gaddafi Stadium came in April 2022, when they secured a three-wicket win.
PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed welcomed the Australian team, describing the series as an exciting start to the year for local fans. He said the board was looking forward to hosting the visitors in Lahore and encouraged supporters to attend the matches as both teams fine-tune their preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
Syed also noted that the Gaddafi Stadium has become a familiar venue for Australia, having hosted a Test, five one-day internationals and a T20I involving the visitors since 2022.
Series schedule:
1st T20I: Thursday, January 29 — 6pm
2nd T20I: Saturday, January 31 — 6pm
3rd T20I: Sunday, February 1 — 6pm
