Australia Launches Immi App for Pakistani Visa Applicants

News Desk

Islamabad: The Australian government has introduced a simplified visa application process for Pakistani citizens through its mobile Immi App, making it easier and faster to apply for a visa without visiting visa centres in person.

Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Tim Kane, shared the update on his social media platform X, emphasizing that the new system will save applicants time and money while simplifying identity verification. The app has already been rolled out in several other countries and is now available for use in Pakistan.

However, the app is only available for applicants who have received a biometrics instruction letter with a Visa Lodgement Number (VLN) starting with AUI or AUH. Those with other VLN codes will still need to visit an Australian Biometrics Collection Centre (ABCC) in person.

How the App Works

Applicants need a valid passport and a smartphone with internet access, camera functionality, NFC capability, and location services enabled. Once installed, the Immi App guides users through a five-step process:

Enter the VLN – Each family member must enter their own Visa Lodgement Number.

Scan Your Passport – Using the phone’s camera and NFC, the app reads the passport details and chip. Users should ensure the passport page is fully visible and free of glare or shadows.

Verify Passport Information – The app displays scanned details; applicants can rescan if any information is incorrect.

Take a Live Photo – A clear photo is required for identity verification. Applicants should face a light background, look straight at the camera, and remove glasses if possible. The app automatically captures the image when aligned correctly.

Submit Identity Check – Applicants can provide an email to receive confirmation. Passport details and photos are sent directly to Australia’s Department of Home Affairs; the app does not retain personal data.

If the process is completed successfully, applicants will not need to visit an ABCC. ImmiAccount updates typically appear within 24 hours, and the department will contact users if any additional information is required.
