Asjad, Awais Victorious in Mongolia Snooker World Cup

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal and Awais Muneer secured impressive victories on the opening day of the Mongolia Snooker World Cup 2024, held in Ulaanbaatar. A total of 36 players, divided into nine groups, are competing, with the top two players from each group advancing to the knockout stage.

In Day 1 results, Asjad Iqbal defeated Mongolia’s Baatarkhuu Narankhuu 3-0 (71-38, 71(52)-51, 110(56)-32), while Awais Muneer outclassed Mongolia’s Khash-Ochir Tuvshinjargal 3-0 (60-17, 62-12, 81-09).

Asjad continued his winning streak by beating Japan’s Junji Miyazawa 3-0 (68-18, 63-11, 83-01), and Awais followed suit with a 3-0 victory over Oman’s Husain Allawati (68-06, 101(75)-12, 83-15).

In the upcoming matches on Sunday, Asjad Iqbal will face Qatar’s Ali Alobaidli, while Awais Muneer is set to play against Siyavosh Mozayani of Iran.
