Asim Azhar Turns ‘Asim Ali’ in Bold New Era
News Desk
Karachi: Pakistani pop star Asim Azhar has surprised fans with a major rebrand ahead of his upcoming album, introducing himself as “Asim Ali” on his 29th birthday.
The move came after the singer wiped his entire Instagram feed, leaving behind a single cryptic message on his Story that read, “Allah Hafiz.” The sudden disappearance sparked speculation among fans — some feared he was quitting music, while others anticipated a new era.
On Wednesday, Asim confirmed the latter with an emotional post:
“On my 29th birthday, I want to introduce you to someone special. Ab tak Asim Azhar ko jaante thay, ab Asim Ali se milne ki baari hai [Until now, you knew Asim Azhar; now it’s time to meet Asim Ali]. My truest & realist form. Finally yours soon.”
The teaser video accompanying the announcement features nostalgic clips from Asim’s childhood, early performances, and snippets of his mother, veteran actor Gul-e-Rana, reflecting on his journey. It also includes what appear to be titles from the upcoming album’s tracklist.
Among them, fans spotted possible song titles “Lost n Found” and “Pari”, both seemingly linked to Hania Aamir, Asim’s once-rumoured partner. The teaser includes a brief shot from their viral 2019 fashion show performance and a colour-saturated close-up resembling Hania’s eyes.
Asim and Hania’s long-speculated relationship has remained a point of public fascination. After clarifying years ago that they were “just friends,” the two were seen together again recently at events and concerts, sparking renewed curiosity about their connection.
The rebranding follows a familiar pattern for Asim, who also cleared his social media before the release of his 2024 album “Bematlab.”
With his new album “ASIM ALI” set to release on November 24, fans are anticipating what could be the artist’s most personal and introspective project yet.
