ASI Guns Down Lawyers Over Personal Grudge
News Desk
Attock: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the elite Punjab Police gunned down two senior lawyers in their chamber at the district court complex on Saturday, police and hospital sources confirmed.
Malik Israr Ahmed, a seasoned High Court advocate and former President of the Punjab Bar Council, was targeted within the district court premises.
The incident unfolded when the police officer allegedly opened fire, fatally wounding Malik Israr Ahmed and Zulfiqar Mirza. Law enforcement quickly apprehended the suspected officer, identified as ASI Intizar Shah, who was in charge of the Quick Response Force (QRF) Red Zone Attock.
According to a police spokesperson, the shooting stemmed from personal animosity. Malik Israr Ahmed, representing a police official’s ex-wife, had filed a suit against the officer in a local family court, leading to the court nullifying the officer’s marriage. Distressed after his marriage was annulled, the officer sought revenge on the lawyer and his assistant.
In response to the incident, a district police officer visited the crime scene, suspended the in-charge of the elite force, the district in-charge, and Moharar, and ordered the registration of criminal cases against them for alleged negligence.
