Arshad Nadeem Wins Gold, Sets New Javelin Olympic Record

Paris: Pakistan’s javelin star, Arshad Nadeem, made history by breaking the men’s javelin Olympic record on Thursday with a stunning throw of 92.97 meters, achieving gold in the event. The medal ceremony, which took place on Friday, honored Nadeem’s extraordinary accomplishment.
The 27-year-old athlete’s javelin soared well beyond the “OR” (Olympic Record) markers, setting a new Olympic standard.
India’s Neeraj Chopra, who secured the silver medal with a throw of 89.45 meters, and Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who earned bronze with a throw of 88.54 meters, also joined Nadeem on the podium to receive their medals.
The ceremony, held approximately 23 hours after Nadeem’s historic victory, was slightly delayed—a common occurrence at the Olympics. The athletes had been informed of the delay in advance, allowing them ample time to prepare for the momentous occasion.
Nadeem, who became the first Pakistani to win an Olympic gold in track and field, stood proudly on the podium. Despite the delay, the significance of the event remained undiminished.
Nadeem received his medal with the same enthusiasm and emotion as if the ceremony had taken place immediately after his win.
As the Pakistani flag was hoisted and the national anthem played, Nadeem’s joy was evident. This gold medal and the accompanying ceremony will be remembered as a landmark moment in Pakistan’s Olympic history, signaling the dawn of a new era of success for the nation’s athletes on the global stage.
