Army, Rangers to Provide Security for WCWC Qualifier, PSL 10

Lahore: The Punjab Home Department has requested the deployment of Army and Rangers personnel to provide security during two major upcoming events: the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Edition 10.

A spokesperson from the Punjab Home Department confirmed that for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, scheduled to take place in Lahore, one wing of Rangers and two companies of the Army will be tasked with providing security.

The tournament, which will run until April 20, will feature six teams, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Scotland, Ireland, West Indies, and Thailand.

Similarly, for PSL Edition 10, which will be held from April 11 to May 18 across Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, the Home Department has requested one wing of Rangers and two Army companies for each city. In addition, Special Services Group (SSG) commandos and Army aviation helicopters will be deployed to further strengthen the security measures.

With both events attracting high-profile international participants and dignitaries, the security teams will be responsible for ensuring the safety of players, officials, and attendees.

The Punjab Home Department has formally submitted its request for security force deployment to the Federal Ministry of Interior for approval.
