Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir emphasized the significance of September 6, known as Pakistan’s Defense Day, in a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
He highlighted that this day holds a prominent place in history as the nation’s armed forces successfully thwarted the enemy’s aggressive intentions during the 1965 war.
In his message, Gen Asim Munir expressed pride in the spirit of national unity displayed during the September War, calling it a source of inspiration for future generations.
He affirmed that this same spirit continues today as the armed forces stand resolutely in defense of Pakistan’s borders.
The Army Chief reiterated the importance of honoring the sacrifices made by martyrs, noting that the protection of their sanctity and the welfare of their families remains a top priority for the military.
He further stated that faith, piety, and the commitment to jihad in the cause of “Allah” remain powerful weapons in confronting enemies.
General Munir underscored the army’s role in combating terrorism, stating that the armed forces have bravely neutralized the threat. However, he pointed out that new challenges have emerged, including digital terrorism and fifth-generation warfare.
Gen Asim Munir described digital terrorism as more complex and dangerous than traditional terrorism, exacerbated by the collaboration of anti-state elements and foreign organizations.
Concluding his statement, General Asim Munir called for national unity and urged all citizens to set aside their differences, pledging that as long as Pakistan remains united, no force in the world can harm the country.
