Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium Set to Host PSL Matches in 2025

Peshawar: The construction of the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium in Peshawar is on track to be completed by February 15, next year, paving the way for it to host Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.
This was announced by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Syed Fakhar Jihan during an inspection visit to the stadium.
Accompanied by Peshawar Zalmi Director and former Test cricketer Mohammad Akram, DG Sports Abdul Nasir, Stadium Director Saleem Raza, engineers, and contractors, the minister highlighted that civil work is progressing in double shifts to meet the February deadline. He assured that funding issues would not hinder the project and expressed optimism about its timely completion.
Syed Fakhar Jihan emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to hosting PSL matches in Peshawar, stating, “There are no security concerns in the province. We have successfully organized several national-level events, including a recent marathon race with participants from across the country.” He also announced plans for a national polo event in January.
Peshawar Zalmi Director Mohammad Akram praised the stadium’s progress, describing it as exceeding expectations. He expressed confidence that PSL matches would finally be held in Peshawar, offering fans in the region a chance to experience the excitement of live cricket.
He also announced that PSL trials under the Peshawar Zalmi banner will begin on January 1 at the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium, attracting talent from across Pakistan. “Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa players have made significant contributions to Pakistan cricket.
The people of this province deserve the opportunity to watch PSL matches in their hometown,” he said.
The upgraded Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium is expected to provide a world-class venue for cricket, further boosting the sport’s growth and popularity in the region.
