Aqib Javed Appointed Pakistan’s White-Ball Head Coach
News Desk
Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former international fast bowler Aqib Javed as the interim head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team for white-ball formats until the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Aqib, who remains a senior member of the men’s National Selection Committee, will also take on additional responsibilities following the conclusion of the Champions Trophy, scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025.
The white-ball coaching role became vacant after Gary Kirsten’s resignation. While PCB searches for a permanent head coach, it plans to complete the appointment process by the end of the Champions Trophy.
In the interim, red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie, who recently coached the team during the Australia tour, will rejoin the squad for the upcoming two-Test series in South Africa.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan men’s cricket team has a packed schedule, starting with three ODIs and three T20Is in Zimbabwe (November 24 – December 5), followed by white-ball matches in South Africa (December 10–22). Pakistan will also host New Zealand and South Africa for an ODI triangular series from February 8–14, ahead of the Champions Trophy.
