Apple’s Foldable Surprise for 2026, AI Boost in iOS 18

News Desk

Islamabad: Apple is reportedly considering the release of a new foldable device by 2026. Despite ongoing discussions, there are no images available, only some patent drawings.

The latest speculation, originating from the Korean site The Elec via MacRumors, suggests that this foldable phone might hit the market in 2026 or 2027.

The rumoured Apple foldable is expected to feature a 7 to 8-inch screen, similar to the size of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 (7.6 inches). If this information holds true, Apple’s design might resemble the book-style approach of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold rather than the flip-phone style of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

However, there’s uncertainty about whether this will be a foldable iPhone or iPad. If it’s an iPad, there is speculation it could replace the iPad Mini, although Apple is also said to be working on a new iPad Mini with a different screen. The details remain unclear, indicating that the project is still in the early stages.

Notably, Samsung Display and LG Display have reportedly provided Apple with samples of 7-inch and 8-inch screens, suggesting Samsung Display as the likely main supplier. It’s crucial to note that while these leaks are exciting, the information is still in its early stages, and plans could evolve over time.

In other Apple-related news, the company is aiming to bridge the gap between iPhones, Pixel, and Galaxy phones by incorporating AI features into the iPhone 16 series. Reports suggest that iOS 18, expected to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developer Conference in June, will bring significant enhancements with a focus on AI features.

Additionally, in response to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) by the European Union, Apple plans to allow customers in Europe to download software onto their iPhones without using the App Store. This decision comes as part of efforts to comply with regulations to reduce the market power of large tech corporations.

On a similar note, Meta, the social media company, has also announced measures to comply with the DMA, providing users with more options on how they use its services.
