Anti-Polio Drive Kicks Off in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: The anti-polio drive commenced in Rawalpindi on Monday with the inauguration led by Commissioner Aamir Khattak and Deputy Commissioner Dr Hasan Waqar Cheema, who administered immunizations to children under the age of five.
Representatives from the Department of Health, WHO, and other relevant departments were present. Commissioner Khattak also received a briefing on the campaign arrangements.
This marks the second polio campaign of the year in response to positive samples. In Rawalpindi district, the campaign aims to vaccinate 786,877 children under five.
To facilitate this, 245 UCMOs and 870 Area Incharges were appointed, alongside 3675 mobile teams, 330 fixed points, and 163 transit points, totaling 4168 teams.
Commissioner Aamir Khattak stressed focusing on Union Councils with higher risk and ensuring prompt coverage of rejected and non-attended cases.
He urged all polio teams stationed at entry and exit points of Rawalpindi to carry out their duties diligently.
Khatak emphasized parents’ responsibility to cooperate with polio teams, highlighting that their cooperation demonstrates citizenship.
He underscored that realizing the goal of a polio-free Pakistan requires every citizen to fulfill their social responsibility.
