Rawalpindi: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted a series of raids, resulting in the arrest of three drug dealers, including a woman, and the seizure of 1.5 kg of heroin, according to a spokesman from ANF Headquarters on Thursday.
In a successful operation, the ANF dismantled a drug trafficking ring by apprehending the ringleader and two other individuals, including a woman, who were allegedly involved in supplying drugs to students at educational institutions. The group was reportedly operating under the guise of human rights activities through an NGO, distributing drugs to students in the Landhi area.
The arrested individuals confessed to supplying drugs to students at universities and hostels in Karachi, using women as carriers to distribute the narcotics in Karachi, Hyderabad, and surrounding areas.
The ANF spokesman detailed that acting on a tip-off, they apprehended a female drug carrier with drugs upon her arrival in Karachi from Tando Adam. Following her arrest, additional accomplices were also detained, leading to the recovery of 400 grams of heroin from the woman and 500 grams from another group member.
During the preliminary investigation, the ringleader was also arrested, along with illegal weapons and additional drugs. In total, 1.5 kg of heroin was seized from the suspects. The authorities also discovered various press cards, press monograms, fake number plates, and other items during a vehicle search.
The arrested suspects disclosed that they were part of an organized gang supplying drugs in both Karachi and Hyderabad. The ANF is continuing its efforts to apprehend other members of the group.
The spokesman emphasized the ANF’s commitment to making educational institutions drug-free, with ongoing efforts to apprehend drug smugglers and those supplying drugs to students. Cases have been registered against the accused under the Anti-Narcotics Act, and further investigations are underway.
