Amnesty International Urges Pakistan to Restore ‘X’ Access

Islamabad: Amnesty International has called on the government to immediately restore access to the social media platform ‘X’, which has been blocked across the country for over a month.
Amnesty International, in a post on ‘X”, stated that they had signed a joint declaration with 28 civil society organizations urging the Pakistani authorities to lift the ban.

In a joint statement, Amnesty International and various civil society organizations expressed deep concern over the increasing incidents of internet shutdowns and blocking of social media platforms in Pakistan before and after the general elections.
“Such actions not only violate fundamental rights such as freedom of expression and access to information, but also constitute a blatant attempt to suppress genuine political dialogue, including diverse voices, within the country,” the statement said.
