All Routes to Red Zone Sealed, ITP Issues Traffic Advisory

Islamabad: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Sunday announced the complete closure of all routes leading to the Red Zone citing security concerns.
An ITP official said all entry points to the high-security area have been sealed until further notice, advising commuters to avoid traveling towards the Red Zone. Traffic personnel have been deployed at major intersections to redirect vehicles and ensure a smooth flow on alternate routes.
Citizens have been urged to cooperate with traffic authorities and follow official instructions to minimize inconvenience. For assistance, residents may contact the Police Emergency Helpline “Pucar-15” or the Traffic Helpline 1915.
ICT Police Conduct 45 Search Operations; 373 Suspects Shifted
In a separate development, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police carried out 45 large-scale search and combing operations across various parts of the federal capital during the past week as part of an intensified crackdown on criminal elements and illegal residents.
According to an official, 373 suspected individuals, including 64 Afghan nationals, were shifted for further verification. Lady police officials also participated in the operations conducted under a comprehensive security plan.
During the campaign, police teams checked 5,669 individuals, 2,553 households, and 739 shops. Additionally, 1,600 motorcycles and 535 vehicles were inspected. Authorities impounded 18 vehicles and 147 motorcycles, while seven proclaimed offenders wanted in serious cases were arrested.
Police also apprehended 21 suspects allegedly involved in drug trafficking, illegal weapons possession, and other criminal activities. Recovered items included 150 grams of heroin, 311 grams of ice, 20 bottles of liquor, a Kalashnikov, three rifles, seven pistols, a dagger, and a large quantity of ammunition.
Legal action was taken against 55 individuals for violations of the Tenancy Act. Officials said the purpose of the operations was to curb crime and strengthen law and order in the capital, adding that such search operations would continue under the directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad.
