Islamabad: Captain (R) Ali Raza Qazi on Sunday assumed charge as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, pledging a firm crackdown on criminals and a renewed focus on citizens’ safety across the federal capital.
According to an official statement, Capt (R) Qazi — an officer of the 44th Common — served nine years in the Pakistan Army and earned distinction for his services during Operation Zarb-e-Azb. He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and has previously served in key policing roles in Balochistan and Punjab.
He replaces SSP Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan, who gained recognition for his decisive actions against land grabbers and criminal networks in Islamabad. Khan’s effective leadership earned him respect within the force and fear among criminal elements. His services have now been transferred to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for his next assignment.
After taking charge, SSP Qazi convened an introductory meeting with all Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs), directing them to intensify operations against organized criminal gangs, drug traffickers, and illegal arms holders.

He instructed all police units to ensure the arrest of proclaimed offenders, habitual criminals, and members of vehicle theft gangs, emphasizing that strict legal action must be taken against all involved in unlawful activities.
“Protection of citizens’ lives and property is our foremost priority,” SSP Qazi said. “All available resources will be utilized to uphold the rule of law and ensure peace across the city.”
He further underscored the need for effective patrolling and visible policing, warning that no compromise would be tolerated on public security.
Reaffirming his commitment to making Islamabad a crime-free and peaceful city, the SSP directed officers to take decisive action against drug peddlers, illegal weapons, and land grabbers.
