Alert: Rainfall and Urban Flooding in Punjab

News Desk

Lahore: Due to recent rainfall across various districts in Punjab, including Lahore, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert.

DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia has instructed deputy commissioners throughout the province to remain vigilant. In light of the risk of urban flooding, the administration of major cities is on high alert.

The PDMA control room is monitoring the situation around the clock. Rescue 1122 and other rescue agencies have their machinery and staff ready to respond. Efforts are underway to quickly drain water from residential areas.

Monsoon rains are expected to impact most districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours and are likely to continue until August 12. Residents are advised to stay away from power poles and hanging wires and avoid dilapidated buildings.

Special care should be taken with children, ensuring they do not approach standing water in low-lying areas. For emergencies, please call the PDMA helpline at 1129.

Stay safe and heed these precautions.
