Mirpur: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has announced disciplinary action against several doctors at a public-sector Cardiac Hospital in the state’s metropolis over alleged negligence during treatment, which reportedly led to a citizen’s death.

Speaking during a debate on resolutions moved by former premier Raja Farooq Haider Khan in the AJK Legislative Assembly on Thursday, the prime minister emphasized that the hospital remains fully operational and refuted claims suggesting that institutions were becoming inactive or dysfunctional.

He further stated that the government had constituted a task force to address climate change challenges, including flash floods and droughts in Azad Kashmir. The task force is expected to present its recommendations within two weeks. The prime minister also highlighted efforts to protect forests as part of climate change mitigation strategies.

On the issue of refugee identity cards, Anwar ul Haq supported a proposal for marking such cards and called for a door-to-door voter verification drive for refugees settled in Pakistan.

Regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner, he stated that the consultation process was ongoing and would be completed soon in coordination with the Leader of the Opposition.

He emphasized that constituency delimitation should be conducted based on census data and the Election Act, and urged the government to acquire the necessary data from NADRA.

The prime minister also mentioned that certain resolutions had been sent to the Bureau of Statistics, including a demand to include local languages in the list of recognized languages during the census. Additionally, there was a request to introduce a separate category in census forms to accurately identify refugees from Jammu and Kashmir.
