Islamabad: The recent tragedy in Pahalgam has sparked widespread outrage and grief across social media platforms. On April 22, 2025, a group of unidentified gunmen opened fire on tourists in Srinagar, located in Indian-administered Kashmir.
The horrifying attack claimed the lives of 26 people, including a honeymooning groom and a vacationing businessman. Several others were injured, with many reported to be in critical condition.
In the aftermath, several Pakistani celebrities, including Farhan Saeed, Hania Aamir, and Mawra Hocane, have expressed their sorrow and condolences over the incident. Meanwhile, tensions have escalated on the Indian side, with many blaming Pakistan for the attack.
Calls are growing louder for the Indian government to cancel existing treaties with Pakistan and impose a ban on Pakistani artists—particularly targeting actor Fawad Khan, whose upcoming film Abir Gulaal is slated for release in India.
Zoom TV, a prominent Indian entertainment news portal and YouTube channel, recently posted a video compiling reactions from Indian netizens, many of whom expressed extreme anger and hostility toward Pakistani actors.
In the video’s comment section, users are demanding a boycott of Abir Gulaal, with one stating, “Abir Gulaal will not be allowed to release in India in any case after this.” Another commented, “Are we still going to release Abir Gulaal after the Pahalgam incident? Will we continue making films with Pakistani actors?”
Fawad Khan and his co-star Vaani Kapoor are receiving a wave of backlash, with many accusing Bollywood of promoting Pakistani talent in the wake of such a sensitive event. A segment of social media users is calling for a boycott of Bollywood altogether, criticizing Kapoor for working alongside Khan.
