Afghanistan Unveils Jersey, Eyes T20 Glory in 2026

Islamabad: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Monday unveiled the official jersey for the national team ahead of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, highlighting a design inspired by the country’s traditional colors and landscapes.

Officials described the kit as a symbol of Afghan pride and resilience, reflecting the team’s ambition to make a mark on the global stage.

Afghanistan, placed in Group D alongside New Zealand, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada, will kick off their campaign against New Zealand in Chennai on February 8.

Group-stage matches are scheduled across Chennai, Ahmedabad, and New Delhi, giving the Afghan squad opportunities to showcase their talent on Indian soil.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, captain Rashid Khan expressed confidence in the squad’s potential and named India, South Africa, and England as the teams he expects to see in the semi-finals, signaling a keen understanding of the competition. “Every team has game-changing players, so the tournament will be highly competitive,” he said.

Afghanistan comes into the event with strong momentum after reaching the semi-finals in the previous T20 World Cup, where they fell to South Africa by nine wickets. With experience on their side, Rashid Khan’s side will look to go one step further this time.

The 15-member squad blends experience and youth, with stars like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Ibrahim Zadran set to lead the charge.

The full lineup is: Rashid Khan (C), Noor Ahmad, Abdullah Ahmadzai, Sediqullah Atal, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Naveen Ul Haq, Mohammad Ishaq, Shahidullah Kamal, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Darwish Rasooli, and Ibrahim Zadran.
