ACE Punjab Arrests P&D Official in Multi-Million Rupee Graft Case

Lahore: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab has arrested Assistant Chief Industries of the Planning & Development Board, Muhammad Ahmed Muflih-ur-Rehman, over alleged involvement in a multi-million rupee corruption case.

According to an official statement issued on Monday, the accused allegedly accepted bribes worth millions in exchange for including specific schemes in the Annual Development Programme. However, after failing to deliver on these promises, the affected parties reported the matter to the authorities.

Following an internal investigation, Planning & Development Board Secretary Dr. Asif Tufail provided substantial evidence to ACE Punjab, leading to the registration of a case and immediate action against the accused.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb lauded the swift action taken by Planning Board Chairman Nabeel Awan and Secretary Dr. Asif Tufail, calling it a step towards good governance and accountability.

ACE Punjab reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating corruption, stressing that malpractice in government departments will not be tolerated.
