Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has intensified its crackdown on shopkeepers violating government pricing regulations, leading to the arrest of 11 vendors at a local vegetable market.
Assistant Commissioner Pothohar, Aneeq Anwar, led the operation, targeting vendors who were found selling vegetables at prices not approved by the government and operating without the necessary permits. This practice is in violation of established regulations.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, underscored the necessity of adhering to the official rate list for vegetables and fruits. He stressed that shopkeepers must follow this list to ensure fair pricing for consumers. Memon warned that those selling produce without adhering to the official rates would face strict action.
The ICT administration remains committed to enforcing these rules to curb unfair market practices. Memon directed officials to take rigorous measures against those disrupting the pricing system by flouting government-fixed rates.
In addition to this operation, the district administration is also actively addressing price hikes, illegal activities such as professional begging, unauthorized petrol filling stations, and LPG filling stations through ongoing inspections and enforcement actions.
