Abrar Ahmed, Kamran Ghulam Released From Pak Squad For Bangladesh Tests

News Desk

Islamabad: Wrist spinner Abrar Ahmed and top-order batter Kamran Ghulam have been released from the Pakistan Test squad to represent Pakistan Shaheens in the second four-day match against Bangladesh, scheduled to begin at Islamabad Club on Tuesday.

The decision comes as selectors opted for an all-pace attack for the first ICC World Test Championship match against Bangladesh, set to take place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on August 21.

Instead of keeping Abrar on the bench, the selectors have included him in the Shaheens squad to ensure he gets match practice ahead of the second Test, starting on August 30.

Kamran Ghulam has been appointed as captain in the Shaheens squad for the upcoming match. This adjustment trims the Pakistan Test squad to 15 players for the first Test, but Abrar and Kamran will rejoin the team for the second Test, restoring the squad to its original 17-player strength.

Meanwhile, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Saud Shakeel, who were part of the Pakistan Shaheens squad, have now joined the Test squad. Mohammad Rameez Jr. has been excluded from the Shaheens for the second four-day match. These changes have led to eight new players being added to the Shaheens, including Abrar Ahmed, Ali Zaryab, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Awais Anwar, Niaz Khan, Qasim Akram, Rohail Nazir, and Sharoon Siraj.

Pakistan Shaheens squad for the second four-day match includes:

Kamran Ghulam (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Ali Zaryab, Ghulam Mudassar, Imam-ul-Haq, Mehran Mumtaz, Mohammad Awais Anwar, Niaz Khan, Qasim Akram, Rohail Nazir (wicketkeeper), Saad Baig (wicketkeeper), Saad Khan, Sharoon Siraj, and Umar Amin.
