Aamir Khan’s Emotional Journey Back to the Big Screen

Islamabad: Aamir Khan, the celebrated Bollywood actor and filmmaker, recently opened up about a period in his life when he seriously considered retiring from the film industry.
In a candid interview with his ex-wife, Kiran Rao, the actor shared that he had reached a turning point in his career, one that made him contemplate stepping away from the spotlight.
Khan, who has been a major figure in Indian cinema for over 35 years, explained that his decision to quit came just before filming Laal Singh Chaddha.
Reflecting on his life, Khan acknowledged that his dedication to filmmaking had led him to neglect his personal relationships, especially with his children, Ira and Junaid.
“I realized I had spent most of my adult life immersed in cinema, from the age of 18 onward. As a result, I wasn’t as present as I wanted to be for my family, for my kids, or for the people closest to me,” he confessed.
The actor expressed feelings of guilt over his past marriages with Kiran and Reena, admitting that he hadn’t been there enough for them either.
“After making so many films over the years, I felt it was time to focus on my family,” he said, revealing that this decision was rooted in a desire to reconnect with loved ones rather than dissatisfaction with his career.
However, when Khan sat down to share his thoughts with his family, it was his children who persuaded him to rethink his choice. “I told them I wanted to quit films and spend more time with them,” Khan recalled.
His son, Junaid, offered a different perspective, suggesting that he should find a middle ground instead of completely stepping away from his passion.
“Why go from one extreme to the other?” Junaid asked. “There’s a balance where you can do both.”
Taking their advice to heart, Khan decided not to retire and instead focus on finding a healthier balance between his personal life and career.
“No one knew I had actually quit. It was just part of my personal journey,” he added.
On the professional front, Aamir Khan is gearing up for his next project, Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par.
Khan not only stars in the film but also serves as a producer. The movie, which will feature Genelia Deshmukh and Darsheel Safary, is scheduled for release on December 25, 2024.
