Islamabad: Are you worried about repainting your house every year? So, the scientists have come up with a solution that will save the building from discoloration, give the house a feeling of coolness, and save electricity.

According to the Science Alert website, researchers have developed a new energy-saving paint that not only protects buildings from heat but also preserves them in their original form for centuries.

Researchers have named this paint ‘plasmonic paint, which is available in different colours.

University of Central Florida scientists conducted research on this paint and published their results in the journal Science Advances.

Scientists claim that this paint is the lightest paint in the world, with a small can weighing only 1.4 kg (3 pounds). It will be enough. Compared to this, a minimum quantity of 454 kg of normal paint is required.

This paint is only made in the lab right now; it may be years before it becomes available to the general public.

One of the benefits of introducing this paint to the market is that its use will reduce the need for air conditioners (AC) in buildings. This paint maintains a temperature of 13 to 16°C below the surface, giving the building a cool feeling.

Paint Manufacturing Team Head Debashis Chanda said that air conditioners account for more than 10 percent of the total electricity in America. The use of plasmonic paint will not only save electricity but also reduce carbon dioxide emissions and make the building feel cooler, he added.

Debashis stated that the colour of ordinary paint fades with time, but this problem does not exist in our paint because special care has been taken in its preparation.
