Islamabad: A lovely recreational area called Daman-e-Koh (in the lap of the mountain) is a popular destination for local and foreign tourists. Situated in the Federal Capital, it’s a salubrious spot where natural and man-made beauty intrigues the heart and mind of every visiting individual.

Sarfraz Ahmed, a resident of G-10, visited along with family and said, “Our visit during the holy month of Ramadan was beautiful and joyful thanks to the eye-catching view of Islamabad from Daman-e-Koh.”

He added that Daman-e-Koh in the Margalla Hills has a tranquil, natural ambiance that makes weekends enjoyable.

“It is a great area to hang out with families since there is a constant cool wind, and the natural surroundings and pure air fill my lungs,” said Lahore resident Huma Ali Malik.

She informed that people are admiring nature and its natural beauty in the lush green and mountainous regions with clean air.

Huma said that a lot of people come here during the holy month of Ramazan to fill their weekends with excitement. She urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to set up measures to ensure order and security for the sake of tourists.

Huma Ali added that the CDA should build a mosque near Daman-e-Koh so that people can worship five times daily.

A Picturesque Garden

Daman-e-Koh is a picturesque garden ideally located in the centre of the Margalla Hills. Daman-e-Koh is a combination of two Persian words that mean ‘foot hills’ when translated into English. Visitors can have a bird’s-eye view of Islamabad from Daman-e-Koh. Daman-e-Koh is almost 2400 feet above sea level and 500 feet above Islamabad.

Monkeys are a common sight, attracted by the food given by tourists. Leopards are frequently reported to descend from higher hills of Murree during snowfall. Airblue Flight 202 crashed near here on 28 July 2010.

The southern spot is the main attraction as it provides a panoramic view of Islamabad. The visitors experience a unique view of Faisal Mosque, the Seventh Avenue, and Rawal Lake.

Telescopes are installed for observers as well.
