Bodybuilding Championship: Muhammad Ubaid Wins Coveted Mr GCU Title

Lahore: Muhammad Ubaid, a student of BS Physical Education, has won the coveted title of Mr GCU 2022-23 at the Annual Inter-departmental Bodybuilding Championship 2023 held at the Government College University (GCU) Lahore.

The event was organised by the University’s Directorate of Sports and it featured students from across the university competing in various categories based on weight, including 60 kg, 70 kg, 80 kg, and over 80 kg.

Vice Chancellor Prof Asghar Zaidi awarded the Mr GCU title to the most impressive bodybuilder at the competition, Muhammad Ubaid, who impressed the judges with his flawless posing and impressive physique, leaving behind some of the most promising bodybuilders from the university.

The championship showcased the university students’ excellent level of physical fitness and commitment.

In the 60 kg category, Muhammad Shahzaib, Ali and Umar Sadaqat secured the first, second and third positions, respectively. In the 70 kg category, Muhammad Waqas Khan, Muhammad Ahmad, Inzamam Qamar and Muhammad Ahmad Butt claimed first, second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. Muhammad Ubaid and Zeeshan secured the first and second positions, respectively, in the 80 kg category, and in the over 80 kg category, Ghulam Fareed Warsi and Rafay Khalid claimed the first and second positions, respectively.

Prof. Zaidi appreciated the hard work by the participants and praised the efforts they put into the game of bodybuilding. He said that devotion, dedication and honesty are the basis of success.

Dr Asghar stated that sports play a crucial role in the overall development of an individual; they not only promote physical fitness but also instil values of teamwork, perseverance and determination.

VC urged all students to continue pursuing their passion for sports, maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, and help GCU create a culture of sportsmanship and excellence at the university.

The Directorate of Sports was praised for organising a well-managed event that showcased the talent and dedication of the students at GC. The university hopes to continue organising similar events in the future to promote physical fitness and healthy competition among its students.
