Transgender Person Killed, Another Injured

Swat: A transgender person was shot dead and another injured under mysterious circumstances in Swat, police sources confirmed on Sunday.

According to the police, the victims were returning after an event when armed attackers intercepted them at Taj Chowk in Mingora and opened indiscriminate fire at them.

As a result, Muhammad Osama alias Mah Noor was killed on the spot and his colleague Israr alias Gulalai suffered bullet injuries.

The victim transgender persons were shifted to the hospital where the injured transgender person is under treatment, but stated to be in stable condition. Police sources said that a person identified as Nawab, a resident of Matta, allegedly opened fire at them and fled leaving the victim in the pool of blood.

The deceased transgender belonged to Karachi and the injured belongs to Mardan. They were residing at Sohrab Khan Chowk, Mingora.

The police have registered a case against the suspected man and raids are being conducted to arrest the suspected killers. In his statement, injured Israr told the police that they were visiting to Fatehpur area to participate in a program.

Israr further said as they reached at People Chowk Mingora, a man named Nawab intercepted their car and opened fire at them.

Taking action, DPO Swat Shafiullah Gandapur has formed a special investigation team to arrest the suspected murder and a raid team has also been formed which has arrested two suspects who will identify the main accused Nawab.
Police sources said that there was a relationship between the suspected murderer and the victim. Nawab was opposing his dance practice.

The deceased has been buried after funeral prayers. Senior police officers and people from different walks of life attended the funeral prayer of the victim.

DPO Shafiullah Gandapur said that transgenders are a part of the KP community, and the killer will be arrested as soon as possible and brought to justice.
