Presidential Award Winning Folk Singer Bashir Baloch Passed Away

Quetta: Folk singer Bashir Baloch passed suddenly in Quetta and is scheduled to be buried on Sunday in the Akhund Baba cemetery next to Killi Deba.

Bashir’s son Muhammad Raza informed that his father had kidney problems.

While expressing his condolences over the loss of the folk singer, Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo said that Baloch attained a renowned position in Balochi singing through his hard work and dedication.

While praying for the deceased, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also expressed his sorrow over the passing of the well-known Balochi singer.

Bashir Baloch started singing in Balochi through Radio Pakistan in Quetta. Over time, he started participating in music shows in Quetta and other cities, where he sang Urdu, Brahvi, Pashto, Sindhi, and many other languages, including Saraiki, Hindko, and Punjabi.

In 1974, when Pakistan Television Corporation established its station in Quetta, local folk singers got an opportunity to show their performances. His brilliant performance brought him national fame, and his music programmes were broadcast from Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.

In 2018, Bashir was awarded the Presidential Pride of Performance Award for promoting music and folk singing and won 130 different awards during his career.

Another famous folk singer who sang in multiple languages, Ustad Muhammad Ali, said “Basher was a great singer who was skilled in music as he got training from senior singers and musicians across the country.”

Expressing deep sorrow over the death of Bashir Baloch, he said that a very talented artist and singer like Bashir Baloch will always be remembered for his dedication and love for his profession.

Muhammad Raza stated that his father spent his last days in a very painful condition due to neglect by the government and his illness.
