F-9 Park Incident Being Probed On “Scientific Basis”, Claims Police

Islamabad: Islamabad Capital Police on Monday said that the F-9 Park incident is being investigated scientifically and perpetrators of the horrible crime will soon be apprehended. The district administration and the police are working together to improve the park’s security measures.

Police spokesman also appealed the visitors to limit themselves to well-lit areas of park during visit in evening.

On Feb 2, a first information report (FIR) was registered at the Margalla police station under Section 376 about rape of a woman at night.

According to the complainant, she had gone to the park along with a male colleague when they were stopped at gunpoint and led into a jungle by two men. She said the men beat her up, raped her and told her to “not come to the park at this time”.

The police have also issued a sketch of one of the suspects reportedly involved in it. They have urged the populace to call at ‘Pucar 15’ in case of any emergency.

National Assembly Speaker Raja Parvez Ashraf sought a report from the Islamabad inspector general.

The letter issued to the Islamabad police chief said that the lower house of parliament had expressed “serious concern” over the incident. It called on the Islamabad IG furnish a “comprehensive report” within 24 hours. APP
