Use of Flammable Items In Margalla Hills Banned

Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) on Monday implemented section 144 at Margalla Hills National Park, prohibiting the usage of flammable item and littering of garbage or plastic there to prevent fire incidents and pollution.
According to a notification issued by ICT administration, the public was being prohibited from holding BBQs, smoking, bonfires, burning at the Park. The littering and carrying flammable items such as lighters, charcoal, matchstick, bottles of petrol and kerosene oil would not be allowed at the venue.
The notification stated that cutting down trees in the area is causing habitat loss and water pollution, which is expressly forbidden under Section 21.4 of the Islamabad Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Ordinance, 1979.
Under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) 1898, Additional District Magistrate Sheryar Arif Khan issued the two-month ban.
