Lahore: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, announced on Sunday that more than 8,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed as part of an extensive security plan for the final match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL X) between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators.
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the IGP has directed strict security measures for the safety of local and international players, match officials, and cricket fans. Supervisory officers will oversee all security, traffic, and safety arrangements to ensure a smooth and secure event.
Dr Usman emphasized heightened vigilance at all duty points, directing personnel to closely monitor for any suspicious activity. “We have adopted a more advanced security strategy for the PSL matches, ensuring a safer environment for everyone involved,” he said, commending the performance of Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan police for maintaining peace during previous fixtures.
He further noted the strong coordination among district administrations, security agencies, and other institutions, which has played a crucial role in the successful conduct of PSL events across the province.
To bolster security, Dolphin Squad, Police Response Units, and Elite Force teams will patrol key routes, the stadium, and nearby areas. Surveillance will be maintained through CCTV cameras installed at sensitive points, including team routes, the stadium, and accommodation sites.
Snipers will also be positioned on high-rise buildings surrounding the stadium for additional security. A traffic advisory has been issued, urging citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and follow instructions to enjoy the match safely.
“Fans should follow police instructions to fully enjoy the match in a safe and secure environment,” the IGP concluded.
