Rawalpindi: The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for Karachi and other southern districts of Sindh beginning May 25, as a low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea is expected to push temperatures upward.

Director General Anjum Rizvi warned that temperatures in Karachi could soar up to 40°C, with the heat feeling three to four degrees hotter due to prevailing weather conditions.

Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the intensifying heat.

The heatwave is likely to affect southern Sindh districts, including Karachi, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.

However, the coastal belt, including Karachi’s immediate coastal areas, remains relatively shielded from the direct impact of this weather system.

The Met Department is closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates to ensure public safety during this period of extreme heat.
