Lahore: The Punjab government has officially announced summer vacations for all government and private schools across the province, starting from May 28, 2025, in light of the prevailing heatwave conditions.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed the decision on Monday, stating that the move is aimed at ensuring the health and safety of students and school staff amid soaring temperatures. He added that revised school timings have been implemented ahead of the vacations, with all schools now operating from 7:30 am to 11:30 am.
The minister urged parents, teachers, and students to take necessary precautions during the heatwave and strictly adhere to safety guidelines to protect children from heat-related illnesses.
Meanwhile, sources in the School Education Department revealed that Rs.129 million has been released for schools in Lahore. They noted that the previous installment of funds was disbursed on January 25, and with the financial year nearing its end, the second and fourth quarter installments have yet to be issued to schools.
Education officials have expressed concern over the delay in funding, emphasizing that timely financial support is critical for the smooth functioning of schools.
