Peshawar: Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday described the province’s southern districts as more beautiful than Switzerland and Europe, stressing that sustainable peace is crucial to unlocking the region’s tourism and investment potential.

He was addressing a ceremony organized by Faisal Hills Islamabad in honor of investors, property dealers, businessmen, and social figures.

Governor Kundi said the scenic beauty and cultural richness of the southern districts—particularly Waziristan—could position them among the world’s most attractive tourist destinations, provided peace and stability are fully restored. “If peace prevails here, people will forget the beauty of Switzerland and Europe,” he remarked.

The event was also addressed by Faisal Hills’ key figure Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, CEO of Haroon Real Estate and Builders Haji Akhtar Din Mehsud, prominent businessman Faizullah Khan Wazir, and President of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Fazal Muqeem.

Expressing gratitude to Chaudhry Abdul Majeed and his team for their warm welcome in Peshawar, the Governor praised their interest in the province and expressed hope that such investments would pave the way for economic progress and social prosperity.

He underscored the importance of launching modern and well-equipped development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, terming them essential for the province’s future success. He particularly encouraged investment in high-rise buildings and housing schemes in Peshawar, with a focus on affordability for salaried and middle-income groups.

Governor Kundi also noted that while Pashtuns traditionally prefer investing in Islamabad rather than Kabul, this reflects their confidence in Pakistan’s stability. He paid tribute to the resilience of the local business community, which has continued to operate and invest despite security challenges.

He further lamented the lack of new urban development in Pakistan, warning that the absence of planned cities is compounding social and infrastructural pressures. “Establishing new cities is imperative to manage population growth and ensure sustainable development,” he emphasized.

At the conclusion of the event, traditional turbans were presented to Governor Kundi, Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, and other distinguished guests as a gesture of respect and appreciation.
