Deadly Bombing Hits Fertility Clinic in California, Multiple Injured

California: A deadly bombing outside a reproductive health clinic in Palm Springs on Saturday morning has left one person dead and at least four others injured, in what federal authorities are calling an “intentional act of terrorism.”
The explosion occurred just before 11 a.m. outside the American Reproductive Centres (ARC) facility, damaging the clinic and nearby buildings. According to the FBI’s Los Angeles field office, the blast originated from a vehicle parked near the clinic.
Akil Davis, Assistant Director of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, confirmed that a person of interest has been identified. While no active search is underway, officials have not released further details about the individual involved.
Palm Springs Mayor Ron deHarte said the explosive device was either placed in or near the parked vehicle, which was destroyed in the blast. The individual who died was discovered close to the wreckage.
The explosion tore a hole through the clinic’s single-story building and caused damage to surrounding structures. Emergency services responded swiftly, and Governor Gavin Newsom has been briefed on the ongoing investigation and response efforts.
American Reproductive Centres, which operates several clinics across California, provides fertility services such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF), egg donation, and genetic testing. In a public statement, the organization confirmed that despite the incident, the Palm Springs clinic would resume operations on Monday. The clinic’s laboratory — including all embryos, eggs, and reproductive materials — was not affected.
Dr. Maher Abdallah, director of the Palm Springs clinic, posted a message on Facebook assuring the public and patients of their continued commitment. “The moment has shaken us — but it has not stopped us,” he wrote.
Authorities continue to assess the situation, and the FBI is leading the investigation into what is now officially being treated as an act of domestic terrorism.
