Lahore: Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Perera has rejoined the Lahore Qalandars squad for the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025.
Perera arrived in Lahore early today ahead of the Qalandars’ crucial encounter against Peshawar Zalmi on May 18. Alongside him, two other overseas players, Shakib Al Hasan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa, have been drafted into the squad as replacements for injured Tom Curran and Daryl Mitchell.
The 34-year-old Perera is known for his aggressive batting style and extensive T20 experience, having scored over 4,500 runs in the format.
Expressing his enthusiasm upon arrival, Perera said, “It feels great to be back with Lahore Qalandars. I’ve always enjoyed playing in the PSL, and to return at such a crucial stage is an honour. I’ll give my all to contribute to the team’s success and bring joy to the fans. I’m now looking forward to meeting the rest of the squad so we can move forward together.”
Lahore Qalandars Team Director Sameen Rana welcomed Perera’s return, stating, “We’re grateful to Kusal for making himself available at this important stage of the tournament. His experience and energy are a big boost to the squad, and we’re pleased to see him back in Qalandars colours.”
The PSL 2025 tournament was temporarily suspended due to escalating border tensions with India but resumed on May 17. The final is set to take place on May 25 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
