Islamabad: With a relentless heatwave scorching much of Pakistan, thousands of tourists are flocking to the picturesque Upper Hazara Division to seek relief in its cooler climes.

Popular hill stations including Abbottabad, Nathia Gali, Thandiani, Ayubia, Kaghan, and Naran have seen a sharp surge in tourist arrivals over the past few days. Hotels, guest houses, and rest houses across the region are reporting near-capacity bookings, while heavy traffic congestion is being observed on main roads leading into the area.

Families from the plains of Punjab, Sindh, and central Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are arriving in droves, drawn by the region’s lush green valleys, refreshing mountain air, and comparatively milder temperatures.

The influx of visitors has brought a seasonal boost to the local economy. Restaurants, roadside vendors, and transport services are experiencing increased business, while authorities remain vigilant to ensure a safe and smooth experience for tourists.

Officials have urged travelers to follow safety protocols, avoid reckless driving on the winding mountain roads, and practice responsible tourism by preserving the natural environment.

According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures are expected to remain high in southern and central parts of the country, likely spurring even more tourist activity in Upper Hazara in the coming days.

In anticipation, district administrations and tourism departments have ramped up efforts to manage the growing crowds, maintain law and order, and ensure efficient traffic control.
