United Nations: The United Nations has reiterated its call for “maximum restraint” following recent missile strikes by India on parts of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives. Pakistan’s retaliatory action, aimed at silencing the aggression, further escalated tensions in the region.

At a news briefing at UN Headquarters in New York on Wednesday, UN Spokesperson Stephanie Tramblay emphasized that a military confrontation between India and Pakistan would be catastrophic for the region and the world. She stressed that the international community cannot afford such a conflict.

In response to inquiries about the safety of UN personnel stationed with the United Nations Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), which monitors the Line of Control in Kashmir, Tramblay confirmed, “Yes, we checked and everybody was safe.”

The UN continues to urge both countries to exercise restraint and work towards de-escalation to prevent further loss of life and to ensure regional stability.
