Beijing: China has expressed concern over India’s missile strikes on Pakistan, urging both countries to show restraint following a major escalation of hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
The exchange of heavy artillery between India and Pakistan along their contested frontier on Wednesday was preceded by India’s missile strikes, prompting a reaction from China, which shares borders with both countries and maintains close ties with Pakistan.
“China regrets India’s military action this morning,” said a foreign ministry spokesperson, adding that Beijing was concerned about the developments.
“India and Pakistan are neighbors that cannot be separated, and they are also China’s neighbors,” the spokesperson remarked.
China called for both nations to avoid further escalation and to seek a peaceful resolution through dialogue. The international community is closely following the situation, with China reaffirming its commitment to supporting peace and stability in the region.

China has expressed its readiness to work with the international community to play a constructive role in easing the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Wednesday.
Responding to inquiries regarding the ongoing situation between the two neighboring countries, Lin reiterated China’s position, emphasizing that the recent military operation by India was regrettable. He also highlighted China’s concern over the current state of affairs, stressing that both India and Pakistan are not only neighbors to each other but also to China.
“China opposes all forms of terrorism,” Lin said, urging both sides to act in the interest of peace and stability. He called on India and Pakistan to remain calm, exercise restraint, and refrain from actions that could exacerbate the situation.
Regarding the safety of Chinese nationals in the region, Lin assured that China was closely monitoring the developments. He advised Chinese citizens and institutions in the affected areas to stay informed, exercise caution, and avoid traveling to regions involved in the conflict. In case of emergencies, they were instructed to contact Chinese missions for assistance.
Lin also reiterated China’s commitment to promoting dialogue and peace, emphasizing that the international community is closely watching the situation.
