Rawalpindi: As Pakistan-India tensions continue to escalate, the Civil Defense Department in Rawalpindi has completed extensive emergency preparedness measures, including practical combat and rescue training for 3,500 volunteers across the district.
Civil Defense Officer Talib Hussain confirmed that training activities are actively underway at several key locations, including Cantt Police Station, Mission School in Raja Bazar, and the Civil Defense Head Office. Sessions are also scheduled to begin within the next 24 hours at Government Denny’s Higher Secondary School.
In a landmark move, female volunteers are participating in combat and rescue drills for the first time—a significant step toward empowering women in national defense and emergency response roles.
To bolster public readiness, authorities have installed 38 warning posts across the city and activated sirens at 16 strategic locations to provide immediate alerts in the event of an emergency.
“These efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure Rawalpindi remains secure and its citizens well-prepared in these challenging times,” said Talib Hussain.
The initiative reflects the government’s proactive stance in mobilizing civil defense resources amid growing regional uncertainty.
