Islamabad: WhatsApp is set to enhance its audio recording feature in an upcoming update, making it smoother and faster to use by allowing users to record voice messages with just one touch.

Beta testers who have downloaded the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS version 25.13.10.70 from the TestFlight app can now try out a new method of recording audio messages that significantly simplifies the process.

Currently, there are two ways to send an audio message on the popular Meta-owned messaging app:

  1. Press and hold the microphone button while in a conversation. The message is sent automatically once it has been recorded for at least a second after the button is released.
  2. For longer recordings, users press the microphone button and swipe up to lock the recording. This allows users to keep speaking without having to hold down the button.

With the latest update, WhatsApp merges these two methods into one streamlined experience. Now, when users press the microphone button, the lock is automatically activated, eliminating the need to hold the button down or swipe up.

This change simplifies the process, making voice message recording much more fluid.

Although this adjustment might feel unfamiliar to those used to holding the button or swiping up, most users will find the new method easy and effective after just a few tries.

The updated feature is already available to some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS via TestFlight, and it will be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks.
